Oh No, Not Again, Not That…

The Spice Girls have wrapped their old lackluster insipid act into a musical farce and are presently all set to tour. To add to this misery, The Jackson 5, along with extra terrestrial, Michael Jackson, are contemplating a mammoth tour in 2008, at least that is what the band’s spokesman Jermaine Jackson has said.

The Jacksons, featuring brothers Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine, Michael and Randy, found fame in the 1970s with hits such as I Want You Back, ABC and Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) and Can You Feel It.

Jermaine Jackson now says he feels the band has to do a tour one more time before they disappear forever. He insists that they owe it to their fans and the public. Now just a minute! What fans? What public? Nobody gives a hoot about the Jackson 5, just as nobody cares if the The Osmonds ever get back together. I mean who wants to see that show again! Not now, not today!

Jermaine Jackson seems to have illusions that people still want to see the Jackson 5 perform. He is wrong. Maybe Michael Jackson should consult with his good friend, ex Supreme, Diana Ross. In the year 2000, Diana Ross and the Supremes began a highly publicized Reunion Tour in June. Empty concert halls and a huge financial loss ensured that The Supremes would never tour again. The tour was quickly shelved in July because of dismal crowd attendance, a blaze of scathing reviews and bad press.

People do not want to see these reunion tours anymore. It’s like The Dave Clark Five announcing that they will be doing a world tour. What? Who?

The Jackson 5 has had their day. Michael Jackson can still draw a crowd. But the Jackson 5 are over and done with. If the band tours, it is certain to be a disaster. The Jackson 5 have had their day. It was good while it lasted.
